Justin Powlowski

Dr Justin Powlowski received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota. His research focus in the area of environmental applications of biochemistry revolves around the study of microbial detoxification pathways for aromatic compounds, and fungal degradation of biomass. Working with colleagues at Concordia’s Centre for Structural and Functional Genomics as well as a number of industrial collaborators, Dr Powlowski seeks to discover new enzymes for use in industrial processes.

Prior to taking up his role as Interim Associate Vice-President, Strategy and Operations, and Interim Director, Office of Research, Dr Powlowski was Associate Dean, Academic Facilities in the Faculty of Arts and Science. In this role, Dr Powlowski was responsible for facilities planning and management of the Faculty’s space, and coordinated and implemented space and building projects for the Faculty.
